STATESVILLE, NC – Carolina Farm Credit is excited to announce that participants for the 7th annual Ag Biz Planner course have been chosen. The Ag Biz Planner program is an e-learning financial and business planning course whose curriculum includes financial and business planning, budgeting and other money matters essential to a farm’s success. Each couple is paired with an experienced Carolina Farm Credit Loan Officer to mentor them throughout the program.
In an organizational meeting on October 29, 2015, the Carolina Farm Credit Board of Directors elected L. Kim Starnes as the new Chairman. W. Rex Bell was elected to serve as Vice-Chairman.
STATESVILLE, NC – Carolina Farm Credit representatives recently attended the National FFA Convention and Expo in Louisville, Kentucky. During the 88th annual gathering of the next generation of farmers, ranchers, and advocates for rural America, Farm Credit engaged with student leaders on a variety of topics, including Farm Credit’s 100-year milestone and available career opportunities.
STATESVILLE, NC – Carolina Farm Credit will award $100,000 in Grants and scholarships to 20 North Carolina organizations and 8 college students. The funds will be distributed through Carolina Farm Credit’s Corporate Mission Fund, whose mission is to build strong partnerships and alliances, leveraging the resources within the fund to preserve and promote the farmer, the family, and our rural communities.
STATESVILLE, NC – Carolina Farm Credit partnered with AgCarolina Farm Credit and Cape Fear Farm Credit to support the NC State Fair Jr. Livestock Sale of Champions. The Farm Credit Associations of North Carolina purchased the Grand Champion junior market meat goat with a winning bid of $13,250. The winning goat was exhibited by Caley Mayo, 14, of Whitakers, NC. Mayo will receive 60% of the purchase amount, while the remaining 40% will go to support youth scholarships and livestock programs in North Carolina.
STATESVILLE, NC – Carolina Farm Credit recently concluded its first Instagram photo contest. The contest was designed for participants to show off what they were doing on their farms that makes them Farmer Strong. Photos were submitted from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and included everything from 4-H livestock shows and FFA camp to farmer’s markets and bee hives.

STATESVILLE, N.C. – Carolina Farm Credit is retiring $12.2 million in cash, representing 100% of the 2008 series of qualified allocated surplus and 100% of the 2008 series of non-qualified allocated surplus. The Association had also declared a patronage of $18.4 million in April of this year with $5.5 million being distributed in cash. With cash patronage in the spring, and the retirement of this surplus, the total cash returned to stockholders in 2015 is $17.7 million.

Representatives from AgCarolina Farm Credit, Cape Fear Farm Credit and Carolina Farm Credit were on hand to receive the award at the North Carolina 4-H Scholarship & Awards Reception held in Raleigh.

Farm Credit Associations of NC employees raised $646 and each association matched the employee donations dollar for dollar to bring the total raised to$2584. These funds were presented to the FFA at their statewide convention held in Raleigh on June 17, 2015.

Carolina Farm Credit recently hosted its 15th annual Agricultural Leadership Institute in Asheville, N.C. The institute, held at Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C., brought together and celebrated young, beginning, and small farmers. It was created to equip these farmers to meet the challenges of modern agriculture and encourages the sharing of ideas and networking within the industry. This year’s 26 participants were couples or individuals from farms across Carolina Farm Credit’s territory and were selected for their leadership and achievements.
Carolina Farm Credit, its employees, and board members donated over $6,100 to local charities in 2014.
