On my first day with Carolina Farm Credit, I was able to meet and eat lunch with our CEO, Vance Dalton. While he was talking to all the interns he said that Carolina Farm Credit isn’t just a company, it’s a family. Throughout this internship, I have been able to see and experience this first hand. Everyone I’ve come into contact with is eager to get to know you and will drop everything they’re doing to help one another.
This summer has been nothing less than exciting and has been a fantastic opportunity to get to know Farm Credit. I have been able to attend training sessions, help out with a community project, tour farms and the AgFirst bank, build and launch a survey, enjoy numerous lunches, see exactly what goes into making a loan, and build some great relationships. I also had the chance to experience Jury Duty for the very first time and serve as the foreperson of the jurors. This was a very rewarding and interesting opportunity, but it did help me solidify my decision to work in the financial sector. As my final weeks here come to a close I am busy working with the other interns as we put the final touches on our project and presentation.
I’d like to use this final blog post to thank everyone that has helped me during this internship and made me feel like I truly am part of the Farm Credit Family. I’d especially like to thank Ryan Bledsoe, Scott Green and everyone else from the Wilkesboro branch for allowing me to tag along wherever they went. They took the time to sit down with me and show me each and every step of the loan making process. I’d also like to thank Maggie Hamm, Chad Puryear, and countless others for meeting with the interns and helping us complete our project.
