Planting New Roots in Carolina Farm Credit
Hello, everyone! My name is Alyson Biddix, and I am a Summer Loan Officer Intern in the Asheville office. I originate from McDowell County, North Carolina. I am currently a senior attending North Carolina State University. I am studying to earn a Bachelors of Agricultural Business Management with a minor in Agricultural Entrepreneurship. Some of my hobbies include; hunting, fishing, hiking, riding and competing horses, making memories with family and friends, and strengthening my faith. My family and I also own and operate a second generation, part-time commercial cow calf pair operation in Sugar Hill, North Carolina. We emphasize on producing outstanding stockers and replacement heifers by focusing on the improvements of our brood cow selection and incorporating Biltmore herd sire genetics. We sell our prodigy to both individuals and through stockyards.
I wanted to intern for Carolina Farm Credit because of the family-based atmosphere that is presented along with the financial assistance that is offered to all farmers alike. Throughout my life, agriculture has molded me into the person that I am today. The impact that agriculture has made on my life is something that I am forever in debt to. I strive to give back to the community that I will always hold a near and dear place in my heart for by supporting local farmers in all of their financial endeavors.
I will also spare no effort to spread agriculture awareness through both my time here and throughout my everyday life. I believe that it is very important for every individual to know just how important agriculture is. It is evident that the awareness of agriculture in the present decade is declining. The lack of common knowledge will ultimately hurt the growth of agriculture resulting in the decrease of the quality of human life. There are many factors working against agriculture currently, so it is resting on the upcoming generations to “Agvocate” and Carolina Farm Credit does an exceptional job doing so. Throughout this internship, I will: make connections with both Carolina Farm Credit staff and Carolina Farm Credit customers both potential and existing, learn more about the loan process, appraisals and credit analysis, explore career opportunities, gain exposure to different approaches of farming, and so much more. I am very excited to see what lies in store this summer with Carolina Farm Credit.
