Joining the Farm Credit Family
Hi everyone, my name is Lauren Hunley and I will be working in the Brown Summit Office as the Loan Officer Intern this summer. I was born and raised in the small town of Walnut Cove, NC. I am currently a senior majoring in Agricultural Business Management with a minor in Extension Education at NC State University. At NC State I am a part of the Agricultural Business Management Club and Young Farmers & Ranchers. I have also been an ARE Ambassador for the Agriculture and Resource Economics Department. In my free time, I enjoy being with my friends, family, and dogs. I love anything that involves being outdoors like hiking, kayaking, and being on the lake.
I have worked as a waitress since I was 16 years old and have learned many skills that have helped prepare me for working with the public. I also had the opportunity to complete an internship with 4-H Youth Development my freshman year of college with the NC Cooperative Extension, Forsyth County Center. Both of these experiences have helped me gain skills that I know I will use here at Carolina Farm Credit.
During high school I was actively involved in FFA, which was the first time I had really heard about Carolina Farm Credit and through their involvement in my community. I became interested in interning with Carolina Farm Credit once I got to college because it is talked about a lot in my major and it seems like a great company culture to work in.
From the short time I have been here, I can tell that from my first day in Statesville to my first week at the Brown Summit office that Carolina Farm Credit has a great company culture. Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful already and I know I will be able to learn a lot and ask questions as I go. I am excited to learn more about the different types of services that Carolina Farm Credit offers and look forward to gaining more knowledge as the summer progresses. I believe that the best way to learn is through experiences and I can already tell that I will be getting a lot of that this summer!
One of the things that I look forward to the most about this summer is seeing the different aspects of what Carolina Farm Credit does as a company and get real-world experience that will help me to decide what I want to do after I graduate. I look forward to understanding the company, different processes, site-visits, and shadowing my mentor as well as others in the office. I am grateful for the opportunity to be interning with Carolina Farm Credit this summer and appreciate everyone who has already helped me during my time here!
