Halfway There

Cows grazing in a field

As I have passed the halfway point of my internship here at Carolina Farm Credit, I have experienced a lot and learned a lot in the past 6 weeks.

Since I have started, I have had the opportunity to help my mentor with loans that are in progress, as well as sit in on some closings.  All of which has been new to me because I have very little experience about the loan process apart from a truck loan.

Along with working on loans and attending closings, I have had the chance to get out and meet farmers out on their farm, which I enjoy very much.  I feel like this is what separates Farm Credit from other lenders.  On one of these farm visits, I had the opportunity to go out with the local extension agent to see local wool being baled, which was something I have never seen before.

I also had a chance to attend a Wilkes Area Poultry Association meeting back in June.  During this meeting an employee from the Piedmont Research Station gave a presentation about how breeder diets can affect the quality of the offspring, which was interesting to listen to, especially since it was related to what I am studying at N.C. State.

I have enjoyed my time so far here at Carolina Farm Credit and I am looking forward to the experiences that are to come!
