Grateful for the Opportunity

Grateful for the Opportunity

Hi, it’s Jessie again, here to recap my summer internship with Carolina Farm Credit! I can confidently say that I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge about Farm Credit after working in the Statesville and Taylorsville offices. It has been a real pleasure working alongside Kathy Bunton and Mindy Herman. They are both incredibly experienced in their profession and genuinely care about all of their borrowers, and it shows in their passion and work ethic.

Going on farm visits, listening in on conversations with current and potential borrowers, and observing and executing the loan process are just a few things that helped me understand the extent of a loan officer position. I've realized how important each step on the checklists are and how each one fits together like a puzzle piece to make up a loan. Additionally, I was also given the opportunity to work alongside our Branch Office Coordinator and Loan Processor to view a loan from start to finish.

While I have been fortunate to experience the many elements to Farm Credit, my favorite had to be the farm visits. I appreciated visiting and learning about each farm and how it runs, whether I was with the other interns or a mentor. Since I don't have a vast background in agriculture, my understanding on many areas were constrained. I have enjoyed learning about the various agricultural products produced in the region as a result.

As my time with Carolina Farm Credit winds down, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for making it the best experience possible. I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity and the large impression Carolina Farm Credit has left on me.
