I am sad to say that this is my last blog entry, my time here at Carolina Farm Credit is coming to an end. In just two more weeks I will be finished with my internship and heading back to North Carolina A&T for my final semester (Graduating in December, Woo!)
I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to experience so many new things and meet so many amazing people! At the end of my very first day I knew that this is where I wanted to be! I have never seen a group of people who are so dedicated to what they do, but still know how to cut loose and have a good time! So hopefully this isn’t a goodbye, just an I’ll see you later kind of situation!
A few things have happened in the last couple of weeks, all of us interns met at the Shelby branch to go on a farm tour that was organized by Kaylei Scott, Suzette and Katie! Our first stop was ASR Grain Co. in Shelby, NC. This is where I found out that I’m not so good with heights! We made our way up the steps (many, many, many steps!) to the top of the grain bin, shaky knees and all, I did it! The views were breath-taking and well worth the climb! Of course, then started the journey back down thankfully to the sweet earthy ground!
We finished the afternoon at Knob Creek Farms and Creamery in Toluca, NC. Where we spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing on a porch swing enjoying some of the best homemade ice cream I’ve ever had!
The past two weeks have been a busy time for us interns, we are in the final stages of completing our project! We all got together to go over the results and come up with a game plan for our presentation! As we wind down and finish our work here, we are thankful, but it’s bitter sweet to see it all end.
I want to thank everyone who has helped me out this summer and made me feel welcome! Starting with the Rural Hall Branch, Christina, Emily, Hope, Jacob, Tim, Davey, Caleb, and Kimberly, thank you all for bringing me into your little Farm Credit family
Kaylei, Nick and Amber: Thank you all for making this summer unforgettable, we shared a lot of laughs and memories as we made our way through this journey and I wish you all the best in your studies, maybe one day our paths will cross again!
