From The Field to Farm Credit

Hi, my name is Leanna Sherrill and I am working at the Statesville Administrative Office as a Marketing Intern for the summer. Despite many setbacks the world has encountered with Covid-19, I was very excited that Carolina Farm Credit was able to keep the internship opportunity available.

I am a rising junior at Lenoir-Rhyne University double majoring in Business Management and Business Marketing. I am also an athlete at Lenoir-Rhyne on the softball team. I was born and raised here in Statesville spending most of my time on a ball field. Being a student athlete does not allow for much free time, but when I get a day to rest I spend that time with my family. I am a very family oriented person and that is what stood out to me when looking into Carolina Farm Credit.

The first week in the office was exciting! I met with the marketing team to learn about their daily tasks and different projects and events they work on throughout the year. I have been introduced to the AgLeadership program, press releases, sponsorships, social media planning, photo contest selections, email blasts, advertising campaigns, and blogs like the one you're reading now!

Outside of the office I had the privileged of going to the Northwest Junior Livestock Show with my mentor, Jocelyn, who is a marketing coordinator here in the Statesville Administrative Office. We delivered a check that was for a sponsorship from us and several of our local branches in that area.

I have learned a lot about what goes on behind the scenes of a great business to engage with their customers and show support to the community.

In the coming weeks, I am excited to visit some of the local farms for National Dairy Month to show support to Carolina Farm Credit customers. I am also looking forward to learning much more about the marketing process throughout the remainder of my internship.
